After a few races of coming in just off the podium at the Mad Trapper Snowshoe Races, Steve managed to claw his way up to 3rd overall when it counted: at the season closing championship race. This was a 2-lap, 10km total distance snowshoe race taking place in the hilly region north of Wakefield Quebec, at a place called the Ark. During the 1st lap, he held on tightly to 2nd place, only to be passed on the 2nd lap by someone who apparently brought an extra lung with him to the race! It was a tough, fast race, made tougher by non-existent track conditions on the first lap. This marked the last snowshoe-only race for his racing season, but not the end of winter racing. 2 more races are left, the ITU Winter Tri in Quebec, and the season ending Snow Trail Race in Orford, Quebec.
